NJ Crop Weekend – Summer dates August 10-12, 2012

Check out the highlights from the last NJ Crop Weekend.  We go away for a long weekend of crafting, fun and friends!

You’ll note in the video that people bring lots of paper crafting stuff to work with, but in this case I mostly did digital work with My Digital Studio!  and that means less to carry!

The next crop is coming up over the summer – why not treat yourself to a little creativity time?  Heck, you can even ask for the weekend as a Mother’s Day gift!!  Contact me at carol@carolGpapercrafts if you’re interested or have questions, or go to www.njcropweekends.com for more details.

Upcoming paper crafting classes for Winter 2012!

I am excited to share the schedule of upcoming paper crafting classes for
Winter 2012!

The first event is a free demonstration of My Digital Studio, the intuitive digital software from Stampin’ Up! for making cards, scrapbooks, slide shows and more!  I will have samples of items that have been made with the software, and will show a quick demonstration of how fast & easy it is to use on the big screen. No squinting!  Coffee! Wednesday, 1/18/12 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.

Note – if you are interested in purchasing My Digital Studio, let me know and I can help you get it set up on your computer if you can bring your laptop to Ridgewood, or over the phone if you are far away!

Each month I will be running two different types of classes.  You must register and pay in advance so I can have materials ready for you!

1)    Technique class – we will make two different cards and a third item, which may be a 3D item or another… interesting thing!  We will use at least two different techniques on the projects, and you will be able to make a little reference card with a sample of each technique and directions on the back.  Keep these technique cards on a ring and refer back to them when you are looking for some inspiration!  Dates: Thursday 1/19 at 11:00am (note changed time!), and Thursdays on 2/9 and 3/15 at 1:00pm. Fee $20.

2)     Scrapbook class – we will alternate a hands-on, paper scrapbook layout class one month with a My Digital Studio scrapbook/technique class the next month.

  • For the hands-on layout class, I will give you everything you need to create a layout with blank spots for the pictures, and you can take it home and add your photos. Thursday 2/10 at 1pm. Fee $20.
  • For the MDS class, bring your laptop with My Digital Studio loaded on it.  I’ll have the big screen set up so everyone can see the demonstration, and then we can work through one or two cool techniques while creating a project.  Thursdays on 1/26 and 3/22 at 10am for beginners and 1pm for experienced users. Fee $20.

Classes are held at my home studio in Ridgewood.  Contact me for more details or to sign up!  And for those who are not in the local, northern NJ area… I
plan to add some online classes in the second half of the year!

I hope to see you at one of the upcoming paper crafting classes for
Winter 2012!

NJ Crop Weekend coming up in February!

I am so excited because there is already another NJ Crop Weekend coming up in February!  That’s when I get together with a bunch of creative and interesting people, and we head out to the beautiful Dolce Hotel & Convention Center in Basking Ridge, NJ to work on our favorite paper crafts.  Everyone gets a large, dedicated work space to spread out and do their projects.  Here are some pictures of the latest Fall Crop Weekend!

Folks had lots of room to get their stuff done. Some people do scrapbooking, others make greeting cards… and some make use of the dedicated time, with none of the usual interruptions that we have at home, to do really unique things!  Check out this picture of my friend, Pat and look at the big tote bag she is holding in her lap.

Do you know all those papers and treasures that the kids bring home from school?  Well, Pat has been saving them in a bunch of bags, boxes & totes.  She brought EVERYTHING to the crop weekend, and happily sat there going through it all.  Some stuff was not very special, or was a duplicate, but she took all the stuff she wanted to save and put it into a Stampin’ Up! album for each of her children.  The pocket style of the album allowed her to tuck the various papers into the top of each page, and the kids can pull them out if they want to see them up close!  In one day, she reduced the stuff in a bunch of those totes into a nice thick album for each kid.  Woo Hoo for organization!

[Hint: do you see the scrapbook pages about San Antonio that are in progress in the foreground?  I’ll share how they came out in an upcoming post!]

Now that you see what the NJ Crop Weekends look like in the crop room, I hope you will consider joining us for the Winter 2012 Crop Weekend on February 24-26, 2012.  Click here for more info, or contact me at carol@carolGpapercrafts.com!
